Volunteer Program
Volunteer
Work
MSH is currently
looking for
volunteers to
help us manage
the transportation
of 10-15 children
with special
needs, who travel
everyday from
Ollantaytambo
to Urubamba,
to attend the
amazing Arco
Iris School,
run by the NGO
Kiya Survivors.
Without this
service, many
of these children
would have no
access to education,
and many would
spend the entire
day alone in
their homes.
The school provides
them with a
social environment
where they can
interact with
other children,
and be under
the care of
teachers and
staff trained
to care for
special needs
children. We
are therefore
committed to
providing this
service, but
need volunteers
to accompany
the children
each day, ensuring
that all the
children are
picked up, that
everyone stays
safe on the
bus and that
the children
are left with
family members
at the end of
each day. Volunteers
may also have
the opportunity
to accompany
the children
during the school
day.
Other volunteering
roles could
include homework
help for some
of the children
whose education
we supervise,
for volunteers
with intermediate
or above Spanish.
We are also
looking for
support in the
areas of fundraising,
grant writing,
website content
updates, etc.
We
are therefore
looking for
volunteers who:
1. Speak some
Spanish (or
are very eager
to learn)
2. Are enthusiastic
about working
with children
with special
needs
3. Are reliable,
patient and
willing to be
flexible
4. Can commit
to at least
1 month of volunteer
work although
we sometimes
accept shorter
time frames
when space is
available in
the volunteer
house.
5. Could help
out with fundraising/marketing
6. Is able to
work effectively
and respectfully
with people
from different
economic/cultural/linguistic
backgrounds.
