Anita is a shy and beautiful 17 year old. She was the very first child that Mysmallhelp sponsored (when it was established 5 years ago); her mother died and she was then abandoned by her alcoholic father who was unable to meet his responsibilities. Anita has finished her schooling and now attends college for further education. She is ambitious and compassionate. Her life has shown her the hardship of surviving without her own family around her and she is now determined to be a social worker so that she can help children who are going through the suffering that she has been through. Anita currently has no home or sponsor family to support her and so she is living in an orphanage once more whilst completing her sociology studies. Her academic world is stable but her tutors and Mysmallhelp know that at 17 years old she would benefit from financial and moral support in a more grown up environment. Sponsorship would help her to be placed in a family home where she can continue her studies. Anita is living proof of the need for Mysmallhelp, and proof that with the right support children who have nothing can thrive.

Bipana is an orphan as both her parents died of cancer. Due to their economic situation they could not afford any medical treatment and they lost their lives within two years of each other leaving behind two children. Bipana now lives with her uncle’s family but most of the time is ignored. She has an younger borther who is studying in the same school. Saroj himself is very good at English and likes to get involved in extra curricular activities.

Nilam and Nilema are identical twins and are 2 years old. They are able to start school now, but can’t as the family has no money to pay for the school fees. They live with their parents and their older sister, altogether in one small room. Their father drives a rickshaw and only earns around 300 rupees a day. Their mother doesn’t work as she has to look after the children and the house. The twins are very cheeky and love to laugh – especially when they are tickled! Unfortunately, it seems that both girls have umbilical hernias and will need operations to repair them – something the family cannot afford.

Sarita’s mother is an alcoholic and is ill in bed most of the time with liver problems and is therefore unable to look after her five children. Her father’s salary is insufficient to provide the family with adequate care or educational opportunities. Sarita likes to draw, write and watch TV. She is a talkative little girl and it is her ambition to become a police officer.

Nova is 8 years old and loves going to school because she likes studying. She is a very lovely and smiling girl. Lack of proper care by her parentsmeans that she is little bit naughty. Nova has twin little sisters and this addition to the family stretched their income to breaking point, even when they barely earned anything in the first place. Her father is a rickshaw driver and he hardly earns enough money to buy food for the family. Puspa, Nova's mother is very grateful to Mysmallhelp for sponsoring her, but the sponsorship now needs increasing. We need to ensure Nova and her studies are well taken care of.

Alisha lives with her mother in a very small room within the carpet factory where her mother works. Her older sister also stays with them sometimes, but due to a sponsorship, is able to go to boarding school. Their father abandoned them many years ago, and their mother earns very little, despite working for 50 or more hours a week. It is very hard for the family to make ends meet. Alisha is 12 years old and is only able to go to school because of a MSH sponsorship. She is a very quiet girl but wants to do well and study hard in order to make a better life for her.

Her parents work in a carpet factory and with very little money it is hard to give their children education. They are living in a very cheap rental room with no windows at all. They really want to be able to provide their children with education. Saru is a very smart child. She is very enthusiastic and a keen learner. She is talkative and has very good handwriting.

Ashok doesn’t have a father. He was with his mother in the village and she was working in the house of another villager. She has a very poor background but she wanted him to go to school. She asked for the help from Marybert School and they provide MySmallHelp with his details. Ashok is 13 years old and is sensitive and very keen to learn. He likes stories and tells stories a lot. His favourite story is Beauty and the Beast. He enjoys studying and his favourite subject is English.

Shyam's father is 48 years old and is paralysed on the left side of his body. His mother died in 2005 due to heart disease. The family has no source of income and no support. They have no savings as they were spent on the treatment of the mother which was not enough to save her life. Shyam has two elder brothers and one elder sister. Seeing the family condition, one of the school teachers helped his eldest brother for a job as a computer teacher. However, their family life is an everyday struggle for survival. Shyam is a very polite, well-mannered boy in class and always completes his homework. Due to his study and attitude he has a top five rank within his class achieving 70% and above. Shyam lies to play cricket and table tennis and is very sociable.

Biswas's parents are live in a village. They are farmers and are very poor. They have other 3 children to look after, so they can't afford to pay for his education. Biswas is very gentle and quiet boy. He likes to play football and his favourite subject is maths. He is 7 years old.

Rabita is from the Tharu tribe which is one of the suppressed indigenous groups in Nepal. Her father is physically weak but works as a gate keeper in the orphanage. Rabita is a very active and charming girl with a beautiful smile. She is 11 years old and likes to sing and dance along with the other girls in the orphanage. Her favourite subject is Nepali and she is doing very well at school.

Sagar's father died a long time ago and his step father treated him badly. His mother is too poor to look after him. Sagar is an honest and simple boy who is 11 years old. He's very good in art but his favourite subject is maths. He's doing well in his studies and likes to play football and supports Brazil!

Rojan's father died of Hepatitis B 3 years ago and his mother is physically disabled. She can't afford to pay for his education so Rojan has to live in the Marybert Orphanage. Rojan is 14 and his favourite subject is geography. He likes to play chess and he is always laughing and tells jokes to the other children.

Shanti comes from a village named Mugu. She is from an extremely poor family and daily sustenance is proved difficult for the family. Her parents were not able to afford education for their children, as she also has three elder brothers and one elder sister. Her brother brought her to the orphanage when she was very small. She is extremely happy with her friends and her life in the orphanage, but she does miss her family and village sometimes. Shanti is now 10 years old and is in grade 3. Her favorite subject is English and she likes the colour blue. She also enjoys playing football and skipping and her favourite animal is a rabbit. Shanti is a very lovely and friendly little girl who wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

Dipesh is a 14 year old boy & the eldest son in the family. He studies in grade 8 in a government school: Kalika Higher Secondary School. It takes 4 hours daily for him to walk to the school. Although he is a very hardworking boy, he is struggling in his studies due to lack of proper guidance. His father Deepak Bakunchhe was working in a finance company but for the last seven years has suffered bad health with his heart & needs a valve operation. Therefore, he is not able to earn anymore for his family. While his mother, Maiya Bakunchhe works as a cleaner in the local hospital:Kantipur Hospital and earns Rs.6000 per month. It is very difficult for her to provide for her family with this low income. It is extremely difficult for her to afford the education for her two children. Therefore, he is not able to earn anymore for his family. While his mother, Maiya Bakunchhe works as a cleaner in the local hospital:Kantipur Hospital and earns Rs.6000 per month. Binisha’s father and mother are considered old to have a child of four. Her mother is 50, and is often mistaken for her grandmother. They have an older son of 20 who recently married and moved out of the family home; he has minimal involvement with his younger sister. Binisha’s aging parents are a cause for concern as their earning potential is limited leaving the stability of her future in doubt. The provision of support for Binisha’s study would offer the family peace of mind, and provide her with the chance of a brighter and more sustainable life. Binisha appears to have the ability to succeed academically but lacks the means and backup to do so.

Tula is looked after by his elder sister, Geeta, who works as a health assistant in the village health post. Both of their parents are mentally disabled and so money is a very big problem. Although Tula is very clever, he has been unable to continue his studies properly. He is looking for someone who will help him develop and get the education that he deserves and go on to great things. Tula passed his School Leaving Certificate with 73% and now wishes to study science, but cannot do this without financial support.

Suraj is 9 and likes to play football. He likes maths and also likes to watch the Cartoon Network – his favourite programmes are Ben 10 and Tom and Jerry!

Nabina's father is in prison for life for murdering his wife although he claims that she committed suicide. Nabina and her brother used to live with their grandparents. Their grandparents are very old and poor as Nabina’s father was the only person in the family that earned money.They lost their land and money when paying for the defense case for Nabina’s father.Nabina is a very obedient, hard working, well mannered girl and is quiet and shy. Nabina takes care of her brother as though he is her own child. She is honest and caring and is very attached to her brother, who also lives in the orphanage.When she arrived at Marybert looked very nervous but now she is slowly becoming more confident. She likes dancing and playing with dolls. Her favourite subject is science and she wants to be a doctor when she grows up.
