Children at Marybert
School and Orphanage received a
body and heart-warming surprise
this week as My Small Help provided
18 of them with wind and waterproof
jackets and trousers.
Although daytime sunlight is warming
in Nepal it is very cold in the
mornings and the sun sets by 5pm.
Power restrictions also mean that
there are regular outages to add
to the cold and dark environment.
Raju Maharjan, My Small Help President,
provided the eagerly awaiting children
with the practical and hardwearing
clothing. They hurried to try them
on for size and proceeded to take
great care in folding their newly
prized possessions back into their
packaging for use the next day (before
playing with the price tags!). Raju
said: “It’s very refreshing
to see their smiling faces when
they are given something that so
many people take for granted. We
want to ensure that the funds raised
through My Small Help are put to
the best use possible, and it was
already becoming obvious that they
needed warmer clothing so that they
can play happily outside and go
about their daily routines in relative
comfort.”
Although the children have their
own clothes, winter in Nepal can
be bitterly cold without the right
outerwear to protect them from the
elements.
