Providing school resources such
as sports equipment and stationery
at Bhattedanda School.
Bhattedanda lies on the outskirts
of the Laltipur district, 26km south
of Kathmandu. It might not seem
a big distance, however, due to
roads that are often ruined by landslides
or due simply to the lack of any
roads at all, the place is barely
accessible. The main occupation
of the people living there is farming
and the level of illiteracy among
the inhabitants is as high as 70%
of the total population in the village.
Bhattedanda school is a very small
school with 3 classrooms of a very
basic construction. The school building,
designed for about 20 children is
packed with 44 students, aged 3
to 12 years old. There are only
3 desks so the children mainly work
on the floor. During the monsoon
season, the classrooms are awash
with water caused by leaks from
the roof. Further, there are no
toilets and very few school resources
of any kind such as books, stationery
and sports equipment.
Our aim
Having seen the condition of the
school, Mysmallhelp Nepal has decided
to help the school and continue
to do so in the future.
So far….
Mysmallhelp
has:
• Provided school uniforms
for all 44 children.
• Provided sweaters to all
the children for the cold winter
season as well as more clothes.
• Donated 4 blackboards, 45
school bags, stationery and sports
equipment.
Outcome
of the overall Project
• Standard of education increased
due to continuous support from MySmallHelp
and the School's Committee.
• Increase in admission for
the Year 2009 by 64%.
• Average total of students
who passed their exams is now 87.77%.
• With the overview of all
these above points, the government
has decided to appoint one more
teacher to the School.
This help has not only brought
excitement into the children’s
eyes but it has also enabled up
to generate some hope for the teachers
of the school.
Potential
Future Projects
Seeing the importance of this school
and the progress in the village,
the Village Development Committee
has provided Rs 100,000 and the
District Development Committee has
provided Rs 50,000 to build a new
school with the help of the villagers
and the funds. They have nearly
finished the first level but due
to the tight budget, there are not
enough funds to fully complete the
first level so the school committee
is looking for donors. MySmallHelp
Nepal, believes that providing funds
for the completion of this school
would be a potential project for
the near future
